Make a free Chinese handwriting worksheet with up to eight characters. Choose 米字格 (diagonal guides), 田字格 (four squares), or plain boxes; copy the model, trace two examples, and write independently.
How do I print a Chinese writing worksheet?
- Enter the characters from your vocabulary list and select Create worksheet.
- Watch their stroke order animations before copying the complete character shapes.
- Select Print / Save as PDF. Use A4 or Letter, portrait orientation, and your browser's fit-to-page setting. Turn off browser headers and footers for a clean sheet.
Each row has eight boxes: one dark model, two light tracing examples, and five empty boxes. Turn off tracing for seven empty boxes after the model. Choose Blank practice sheet for eight rows without characters.
米字格 vs 田字格: which grid should I use?
米字格 (mǐzìgé) adds diagonal lines to the horizontal and vertical guides. Use it when you want extra reference lines for centering and proportions. 田字格 (tiánzìgé) divides each square into four parts. Plain squares keep only the outer border for less guided practice.
Can I make Traditional Chinese worksheets?
Yes. Enter Traditional characters such as 愛、學、國, or Simplified characters such as 爱、学、国. This generator preserves your input and does not convert between writing systems. If you only know the pronunciation, use the Traditional Chinese Pinyin input tool to find characters first.
Does the sheet show numbered strokes or pronunciation?
No. These sheets show complete character shapes for copying and tracing. Use the linked animation tool for stroke sequence, Pinyin and bopomofo. Printed character shapes depend on the fonts installed on your device; follow your teacher's model when a class requires a particular handwriting standard.
A short routine for parents and teachers
Choose a small set from the current lesson. Have the learner watch each animation, copy once, trace twice and fill the remaining boxes from memory. Compare the last attempt with the model, then revisit difficult characters the next day. Try 一, 二, 三, 人 and 十, or use your own class list.
